2014 Highlights via Instagram

Here we are, saying goodbye to yet another year. Like each year, 2014 too just flew by. For this year’s final post, I thought I’d do something a bit different from 2013’s Travel Moments. This time, I’m looking back and sharing the year’s highlights through my Instagram pictures!

I’ve found Instagram to be a great social media platform; fun, interactive, useful and inspiring. Below are some memorable travel and of course, drool-worthy food moments from 2014.

The year started off well with a trip to Bali, Indonesia. Built in the 11th century, Uluwatu Temple (official name: Pura Luhur Uluwatu) is a spectacular temple in southern Bali that’s beautifully perched on a steep cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Mount Batur is an active volcano situated amidst 2 large calderas, and in a part of the larger caldera lies Lake Batur, Bali’s biggest lake.

Gorgeous colors in the sky in Rayong, Thailand.. Pure joy just to look at them!

This year, I also trained hard as I took part in the Ice-cream Olympics.

Peek-a-boo in Singapore!

I also spent an afternoon in Vietnam. During a day trip to the small town of Ba Ria, we passed beautiful rice fields like this in the countryside – the simple life!

My hometown, Pattaya, looking all gorgeous.

Middle of the year I visited London and here is its iconic Tower Bridge on a beautiful day.

Definitely a favorite English ritual – An appetizing and indulgent afternoon tea with some bubbly.

While walking down the famous and historic Royal Mile in the Old Town in Edinburgh, Scotland – such a charming place!

And my eyes were treated to picturesque sights of the Scottish Highlands as well as the stunning Loch Ness. Nessie didn’t come out to play though.

Iceland was a highlight in every sense of the word. I took a dip in the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa. Rich in minerals, it is a man-made lagoon located in a lava field.

A walk to remember at Jokulsarlon – Walking along and admiring the incredible floating icebergs.

I sat in complete awe as I glanced out at the Reynisfjara shore, its beautiful black beach and Reynisdrangar (basalt sea stacks) in the distance.

In Brussels, I got right down to business! Belgian waffle topped with a modest amount of Nutella.

India was also in the books. This was at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a beautiful Sikh temple in Delhi.

And the best thing about being in India is getting to enjoy amazing food!

Sipped some cocktails by the lovely pool and the beach at Marriott Resort and Spa in Rayong.

Infinite perfection at the Intercontinental Resort in Hua Hin.

Never miss an opportunity to indulge in tasty treats and tea!

It’s always Kraphao Kai Khai Dao o’clock in Thailand.

Bangkok’s spectacular skyline at night.

2014 was indeed a wonderful year and I hope it was great for you too. Here’s to an even more incredible 2015! I wish all of you a very happy and delicious New Year filled with love, joy, laughter and realized dreams.

On a final note, I’d like to thank you, my lovely readers for the continued support. I shall continue to try my best to inform and entertain, to share my travel stories and pictures, and to click before I eat, so I can tempt you with beautiful food.

How was your year? I’d love to hear! What were some of your most memorable moments and favorite highlights of 2014?

Some great photos Nita – the black beach is really stunning, have never seen anything like that. I’ve never had an interest in Iceland but so many people seem impressed with their trips there that maybe I should keep an open mind..
Hope your 2015 as exciting as 2014 was! :)
